More varied than any landscape was the landscape in
the sky, with islands of gold and silver, peninsulas of apricot and
rose against a background of many shades of turquoise and azure.
~Cecil Beaton
Turquoise is the birthstone for December.
First mined more than 6000 years ago in the Sinai Desert in the Middle
East, it has a rich and colorful history. In many cultures, this
gemstone has been esteemed for thousands of years as a holy stone, a
bringer of good fortune or a talisman.
For many years at Ellora, we've thought a bit of turquoise looks great with a simple top and a comfy pair of jeans, as well as that perfect black dress. It's so versatile!
